Three Affiliated Tribes Grants $100,000 for Native American Hall of Honor Videos

Posted 1/30/20 (Thu)

January 2020 - The Foundation received a $100,000 check from the Three Affiliated Tribes to fund the Native American Hall of Honor annual honoree video shorts.  Located in the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck, the Native American Hall of Honor acknowledges Native Americans who have well represented their tribe and culture. The program recognizes traditional and contemporary achievements in four categories: Arts and Culture, Athletics, Leadership, and Military/Veterans. Inductees are featured in an annual exhibit at the State Museum with a formal display of personal artifacts and videos that share their remarkable histories.

The Native American Hall of Honor program is a partnership of the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission, the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the State Historical Society Foundation. Marlo Sveen, Foundation Executive Director, and Scott Davis, Indian Affairs Commission Executive Director, traveled to New Town in December 2019 to submit a grant request to the Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Nation for funding of the Native American Hall of Honor annual honoree video shorts.
